Mahjong Handle is a puzzle game that combines richi mahjong strategy with Wordle-style guessing mechanics.

You’ll find details on tile feedback, hand-building logic, and how to use each guess to eliminate possibilities and solve the puzzle faster.

Mahjong Handle

Mahjong Handle combines riichi mahjong hand-building with Wordle-style guessing. You have six tries to identify a concealed winning mahjong hand.

Each guess must be a valid hand containing at least one yaku—the scoring pattern required in riichi mahjong. After each submission, tiles are marked green (correct tile, correct position), orange (correct tile, wrong position), or gray (not in the hand).

Tiles appear in ascending suit and category order, so placement matters. Success requires recognizing possible sequences, triplets, pairs, and yaku patterns rather than guessing randomly.

The game isolates the hand-building side of mahjong, making it useful for learning how winning combinations are structured.

How to Play Mahjong Handle

Enter a legal hand for each guess. The hand must contain at least one yaku. After submitting, check the color clues:

  • Green: Correct tile in the correct position.
  • Orange: Correct tile in the wrong position.
  • Gray: Tile not in the hand.

Use the feedback to eliminate combinations and narrow down possible yaku. Start with familiar hand structures, then adjust based on which suits, categories, and positions remain possible after each attempt.

Features of Mahjong Handle

  • Six-try format: Solve the hidden hand in six attempts or fewer.
  • Riichi mahjong rules: Every solution includes at least one yaku.
  • Ordered tile display: Tiles appear in suit and category order for easier reading.
  • Position-based feedback: Color clues reveal both tile membership and placement.
  • Pattern recognition: Success depends on identifying valid groups and yaku structures.
  • Wordle Unlimited — Its unlimited Wordle-style rounds use the same six-guess deduction loop and color-coded position feedback that Mahjong Handle applies to riichi mahjong tiles.

Who Is This For?

Mahjong Handle works for both beginners learning tile combinations and experienced players testing their pattern recognition. New players see how valid hands fit together. Experienced fans get a quick recognition drill. The puzzle format removes opponents and discards, letting you focus entirely on hand structure.

As you improve, try solving in fewer attempts or use the game to explore less familiar yaku patterns. Pay attention to suit distribution, duplicate tiles, and which sequences or triplets are still possible after each round of feedback.
